My teaching approach is less formal then most, exploring music and theory through creative, fun and successful ways. It is a well rounded approach that develops:
- strong theory foundations
- skills in sight reading music
- ear training skills
- an ability to improvise & create music
I achieve this by incorporating games, drums, percussion instruments, worksheets, theory books and incentive programs (such as 'Music Bucks') -- which support a variety of learning styles.
With a fun learning environment, the experience is rewarding for the student and their family who supports them at home. Research indicates that benefits of music instruction may include:

- learning self-discipline & responsibility

My teaching style is tailored for each individuals interests and strengths, a great fit for:
- Adults who have always wanted to play or reconnect to music, but did not want to start with "Mary Had A Little Lamb"

- Teens who want to explore popular music, soundtracks, video game music, etc

Please contact me if you or your child has special needs, so that we can create an succesful learning environment. Often the guitar and piano can be adapted, even in cases of limited mobility. My Music Therapy background has also given me strategies to keep very active children engaged.
